Planning Your Move
Moving to a new home in Dubai can be exciting but also overwhelming. With proper planning and the right movers, you can make the process seamless. Here are our top tips from 15+ years of experience.
1. Start Planning Early
Begin planning your move at least 4-6 weeks in advance. This gives you enough time to sort belongings, book movers, and handle paperwork.
2. Declutter Before You Pack
Go through every room and decide what to keep, donate, or discard. Less stuff means lower moving costs and a fresh start in your new home.
3. Choose Licensed Movers
Always verify that your moving company is licensed and insured. In the UAE, this protects you against damage or loss during the move.
4. Pack Room by Room
Label every box with the room name and contents. This makes unpacking much faster and helps movers place boxes in the right rooms.
5. Protect Fragile Items
Use bubble wrap, packing paper, and sturdy boxes for fragile items. Wrap each item individually and fill empty spaces in boxes with packing material.
Moving Day Tips
6. Keep Essentials Separate
Pack a separate bag with essentials: documents, medications, phone chargers, toiletries, and a change of clothes. Keep this with you during the move.
7. Take Photos of Electronics
Before disconnecting electronics, take photos of the cable connections. This makes reassembly much easier at your new place.
8. Inform Building Management
Notify both your current and new building management about the move date. Reserve elevator time and parking for the moving truck.
9. Check Your New Home First
Visit your new home before moving day to check that utilities work, measure doorways, and plan furniture placement.
10. Get a Detailed Quote
Request an itemized quote from your movers. Understand what is included and ask about insurance coverage for your belongings.
